Mudskippers are not aquarium fish
This is the most important thing on this page. Mudskippers are amphibious: they breathe air, climb out of the water and spend much of their time on land. A conventional full aquarium will kill them. They need a paludarium — a shallow brackish pool with a large land area, warm humid air and a secure lid. Set up properly they are superb, interactive pets that will watch you across the room. Set up as a normal fish tank, they do not survive.
Gobies: check freshwater versus brackish

Peacock Goby (Tateurndina ocellicauda) — fully freshwater, peaceful, cave-spawning, and one of the best small centrepiece fish available.
Bumblebee Gobies — usually need brackish water long term despite being sold on freshwater shelves, and strongly prefer live and frozen foods over dry.
Stream gobies such as Stiphodon and Sicyopus — freshwater, but they need strong flow, high oxygen and a mature tank with a good film of algae and biofilm to graze. They starve in spotless new tanks.

Care essentials
Most gobies are territorial over a small patch of the bottom, so give each one a cave, rock or piece of wood of its own and the squabbling largely stops. Many are also poor competitors at feeding time, since fast mid-water fish strip the food before a goby commits — target-feed if needed.
